Online Review Series: #3 Step-by-step guide to getting customer reviews

Oh hi there! And welcome to another blog in our online review series. If you’ve missed our previous posts, we’ve explained all about why online reviews are so damn important and touched on which channels you should be focusing your energy on. This time we’re serving up  a step-by-step guide on how to get set up on those review platforms so you can start getting some good customer reviews.

Google reviews setup

If you have a Google My Business (GMB) listing, google has made it easy and included reviews within this platform. If you haven’t, click here and follow our instructions for a GMB listing. The easiest way to maintain the reviews and make sure you are replying to all of them (very important) is to download the mobile app. Once all of this is setup you can start encouraging your customers to rate you on Google following a purchase.

Facebook reviews setup

Much like Google, it is super easy to start getting facebook reviews because the capability is all set up within your existing business Facebook page. Once you are signed into your business page, along the left hand pane you will find a section for ‘reviews’, here you can find any reviews customers have left you and your overall star rating based on those reviews.

Creating a Tripadvisor listing

If you are a business in the travel/tourism sector and haven’t yet claimed a listing on Tripadvisor, you can head to https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/GetListedNew and create a new listing. You will need to select which category your business fits into out of the following:

  • Hotels
  • Restaurants
  • Attractions
  • Holiday Rentals

From there you will just need to follow the prompts and enter in a range of details about your business.

TIP: Tripadvisor is built on a system where anyone can start a listing so before you go ahead a create a new listing, you may want to make sure your business name isn’t already being reviewed by consumers on the site. To do this – click here and if so you can claim the current listing.

Once you have confirmation on your new listing from the team at Tripadvisor you will be able to log into the ‘management centre’ and follow the prompts to respond to reviews.

Getting setup on Zomato (Foodie based platform)

It’s super simple for any restaurants/cafe’s to get listed with Zomato. Simply head to www.zomato.com > scroll to the bottom of the page and select either ‘add a new listing’ or ‘claim a listing’. You’ll need to fill in a few business details and you’re done. Once you are set up, you are all ready to start getting reviews from customers!

Well that’s a wrap when it comes to all things online reviews. Remember that you can’t delete customer reviews, so responding to all comments whether they are positive or negative is crucial. Got any more questions or need help getting set up? Don’t be afraid to give us a shout.
